And the winner is…………………

It’s been one of the longest election processes in law firm history. And one of the longest goodbyes.

It’s been one of the longest election processes in law firm history. And one of the longest goodbyes.

White & Case has finally elected a successor to Duane Wall as managing partner (see story). The firm has been dithering over this since 2005.

The plan was for Wall to retire in March 2008, but it seems Wall has tired of his long march to freedom and will hand over the reins as soon as his successor Robert Verrier is ready for sole control. Verrier, the Moscow boss, will be flying in to New York so Wall can show him the ropes at headquarters over the next few months.

Well, it’s not really sole control. The firm is now set for a whole load more elections and appointments to name an executive committee and a partnership committee. Expect the whole process to be rounded off some time around 2010.
