  • I admire Despina for her many talents. She understands that business development is a fairly new concept for law firms and, as she indicates, it's hard work. The old white-shoe law firms thought that it was unseemly to seek out new clients. They depended on referrals. But the legal world has changed. The business development/chief marketing officer has become true partner of the legal team in defining a firm's distinctive brand and communicating what's compelling about the firm and its attorneys.
