Nuix, a worldwide provider of information management technologies, is now an Industry Partner of the International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT), the cybersecurity executing arm of the United Nations’ specialized agency, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). By partnering with Nuix, ITU-IMPACT is building the forensic expertise necessary for it to fulfil its global mission to improve ITU’s 193 Member States’ ability to address cyber threats.
“ITU-IMPACT sees digital forensics as one of the crucial elements in alleviating cyber threats to a nation,” said Anuj Singh, Chief Operating Officer of IMPACT. “Our partnership with Nuix will provide opportunities for National Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRTs) to enhance their forensic capabilities and add higher value services for their constituents.”
In February 2014, Nuix participated in a digital forensics training seminar organized by ITU-IMPACT and INTERPOL for law enforcement agencies, CIRTs, regulators and internet service providers in the Asia Pacific region. More than 40 senior officials from 15 countries improved their knowledge of forensic investigation and incident response techniques at the three-day event.
Nuix has implemented its Investigator Lab product at IMPACT’s office in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, and provided training in its cybersecurity capabilities to IMPACT’s staff. Nuix has also been one of the partners in ITU-IMPACT’s regional cyber drills, lending its expertise to the drills organized in Uruguay and Oman in 2013. Upcoming participation will see Nuix in the European and Americas regional drills, to be held in Turkey and Peru respectively.
“ITU-IMPACT bridges the gap between government agencies and the expertise to combat cyber threats around the globe that is within the private and public sectors, academia and law enforcement,” said Stuart Clarke, Director of Investigation Services at Nuix. “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with ITU-IMPACT in building global capacity to prevent, detect, investigate and respond to cyber crime.”
