DAC Beachcroft international senior partner Danny Gowan is to retire prompting a shakeup of the firm’s board.
Insurance partner Nick Young will succeed Gowan on the board where he will be joined by three other new appointees, including Madrid managing partner Pablo Wesolowski, Dublin office head Katie da Gama and Leeds senior partner Virginia Clegg.
Wesolowski succeeds Ignacio Figuerol, who quit the firm in April with a team of four to launch Clyde & Co in Madrid (16 April 2013).
The appointments are in line with DAC Beachcroft’s key areas with Wesolowski focusing on global insurance markets, while Da Gama sits in the disputes team defending professional indemnity claims and Clegg is a real estate specialist.
Clegg will succeed Leeds partner Ruth Winterbottom on the board, with Winterbottom stepping down to focus on Beachcroft’s merger with Scottish firm Anderson Solicitors (22 March 2012)
Young, meanwhile, also has a strong following in the insurance sector. Gowan will be remembered for helping to grow legacy Davies Arnold Cooper internationally before being a key figure in the firm’s tie-up with Beachcroft (22 June 2011).
Prior to the merger he put Latin America at the heart of DAC’s strategy, kicking off in 2010 with a formal association with São Paolo boutique insurance law firm JBO Advocacia (6 September 2010).
It quickly followed this with a formal alliance with Chilean firm Seguros Lex (29 November 2010).
