  • I would be interested to know why firms randomly choose to appoint an "independent director" as opposed to a Non Executive Director. Is there a legal element to the title which one is given? At http://www.nonexecutivedirectors.com we have always viewed a Non-Executive Director as being the arbiter of independence and corporate governance (as well as the obvious "black book" advantage for smaller, unlisted businesses).
