BT has been granted an ABS licence by the SRA and has announced the launch of BT Law, a company to provide legal services to corporate customers in the motor claims industry.
BT Law will incorporate BT Claims, which handles insurance claims for over 35,000 corporate vehicles. The business will provide an “end-to-end” service for businesses, from notification of incidents through to management of any litigation. Current customers include the AA, National Grid, G4S and E.ON.
The business will be managed by BT’s head of litigation and employment law Miles Jobling, who will become director of BT Law while continuing in his current role.
The ABS launch follows BT’s recent acquisition of legal and accountancy technology provider Tikit (14 November 2012).
In a statement Jobling said the launch built on BT’s existing legal and claims handling expertise. “This licence now gives us the perfect platform to take this much further forward and means we can deliver whole new areas of support for our existing clients as well as hopefully developing many new relationships,” he added.
