Clyde & Co has been actively developing its arbitration practice since the 2011 merger with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (8 August 2011), which substantially increased the size of its litigation team.
The arbitration group now consists of more than 60 partners worldwide and focuses on large-scale and multi-jurisdictional commercial arbitrations in construction, energy, marine, trade and insurance.
As well as Jobson joining the firm in the Middle East, Latin America specialist Brian Dunning recently joined Clydes in New York from US firm Venable, while Rajah & Tann’s head of South Asia Prakash Pillai joined in Singapore.
Clydes has made significant investments in China over the past year, opening its third Greater China office in Beijing in May 2013 (7 May 2013) and receiving regulatory approval to establish a joint venture in Chongqing with domestic firm West Link Partnership in October (30 October 2013).
The firm already had bases in Hong Kong and Shanghai, which were established in 1981 and 2006 (16 January 2006) respectively.
