This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Toronto-based firm Amsterdam & Peroff is to set up in London, with high-profile human rights lawyer Bob Amsterdam basing himself in the UK.
Amsterdam was expelled from Russia last year for alleged crimes against the state surrounding his involvement in the defence of jailed oligarch and ex-Yukos chief executive Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
The move marks the first attempt to establish an office outside of Toronto for the two-partner firm that specialises in "corporate human rights", taking difficult litigation and arbitration cases for individuals or companies in hostile jurisdictions.
"There are great opportunities here in Europe, and of course Russia, with companies or individuals that are finding themselves in litigation or trade disputes involving emerging markets," said Amsterdam.
Amsterdam had previously taken space at Olswang's offices, working on projects as a consultant to the firm alongside its US ally Greenberg Traurig, which have since completed.
Amsterdam's partner, Dean Peroff, is to remain based in Toronto. The firm was first established in 1980 after the pair met in law school.
