Allens Arthur Robinson signs alliance with top Japanese firm

Australian firm Allens Arthur Robinson (AAR) and Japanese firm Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu have entered in to an alliance to serve Japanese clients’ across Asia and Australia.

The firms said venture is a response to growing demand for international legal services in the region.

The cooperative framework will entail seconding lawyers to each other’s offices and working together on marketing and training initiatives to provide clients with an integrated platform.

Both firms will remain structurally and financially independent, however.

“The Co-operative Alliance recognises that, notwithstanding the growth of China, Japan remains a critically important player in the region and clients from Japan continue to require premium level support and assistance and will benefit from this new approach to responding to their needs,” said AAR Japan head Tim Lester.

“By leveraging our knowledge of each other and clear positions of strength in the region, we’re confident that we’ll be providing a level of service and legal advice second to none to our clients, whether conducting business in Japan, Australia or elsewhere in Asia,” said Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu managing partner Mr Kenichi Fujinawa.

“While energy and resources are clearly one area where our clients are investing in the region there’s a much broader range of industry sectors including telecommunications, food and beverage and infrastructure, in relation to which both firms have special expertise and a wealth of relevant experience.”
