All about Eve

Tulkinghorn does love those anonymous emails. Such as this beauty, which popped into his inbox recently:

Allen & Overy, Baker & McKenzie and Clifford Chance have all agreed to give their staff an extra day of paid leave on Christmas Eve, which falls on a Monday this year.

“What other firms, apart from Herbert Smith, aren’t getting into the Christmas spirit?

“Perhaps a Christmas appeal is in order, to encourage all firms to give their staff a bit of Christmas cheer….”

Herbies spin guru Tom Rose is rarely caught on the hop, and faced with the damning evidence immediately countered: “I’ll have to check this, but I know we’re giving an extra day’s holiday to celebrate our 125th anniversary.”

True to his word, Rose investigated the Scroogesome allegations and was back within the hour.

“It’s true that we’re not giving staff the whole of Christmas Eve off, but we’re only working half the day, from 9.30am to 1pm. So with our 125th anniversary holiday, we’re actually half a day up on the others.”

Rose then added: “So yah boo sucks to Clifford Chance.” Probably.
