A&L Goodbody names London chief as next managing partner
A&L Goodbody corporate partner and London head Julian Yarr has emerged victorious from the firm’s contested managing partner elections.

Yarr won the backing of the partnership after standing against banking and financial services head Catherine Duffy.
He will take up the position in May 2010, replacing Paul Carroll, who has led the firm for three consecutive three-year terms since 2001, and who will be returning to full-time practice as a corporate partner.
Yarr, who will relocate back to Dublin, told TheLawyer.com: “A&L Goodbody is the leading firm in Ireland and to get the chance to be involved in its future is very exciting.
“We have a great bunch and it’s a real honour. Anyone who gets into this position at a firm has to see it as as such, especially in the current
climate.”
Commenting on Yarr’s appointment Carroll added: “This is an important and positive development for both A&L Goodbody and our clients.
“Julian will be an exceptional managing partner and we look forward to the firm continuing to thrive under his leadership.”
During his tenure as managing partner Carroll saw the firm launch an outpost in Northern Ireland, with the firm setting up an office in Belfast in 2007.
Yarr has been involved with A&L Goodbody’s management for some time, having taken over management of the firm’s London office in 2003.
His practice focuses on advising international clients on their activities in Ireland, often working on multi-jurisdictional transactions with an Irish dimension.
