Akin Gump gains UK corporate capability

Hierons joins Akin Gump in January next year as a partner and head of the English law corporate practice group.
Hierons said: "Nabarro Nathanson is focusing on three core areas - property, TMT and projects. My background and whole career has been as a general corporate lawyer. I thought it was the right time to move to something broader than that."
The move will boost the firm's corporate capability in London. With a UK-qualified corporate lawyer the London office will be able to handle cross-border mergers, acquisitions, corporate finance matters and joint ventures.

Commenting on the demand for UK corporate capacity, London partner in charge Fred Heller said: "We have clients who do transactions in the UK and Europe. They demand a high quality, highly experienced English lawyer. We wanted to offer that service in-house."
He added: "Richard is a great match for our client base. He has a corporate background compatible with ours." Heller said the firm is committed to expanding its London office. Recruiting additional lawyers from both UK and other jurisdictions is a priority.
