Advisory committee on international law given extended remit

Constitutional Affairs Minister Lord Filkin has today extended the remit of the committee that advises the government on international court cases.

The Advisory Committee on Private International Law will give expert advice on rules dealing with cases where there is a connection with an overseas jurisdiction.

It already advises the government on the continuing negotiations at the Hague Conference for a global agreement covering commercial arrangements on a choice of court.

The committee is led by Sir Peter North QC and members include Lord Justice Mance, Mr Justice Lawrence Collins and Lord Eassie as well as Brick Court Chambers’ David Lloyd Jones QC and Toby Landau of Essex Court Chambers.
