Trainee solicitors from Addleshaw Goddard kick started their training contracts by taking part in the national law firm’s third annual charity trip to Romania.
More than 30 fresh-faced trainees from Addleshaws’ London, Leeds and Manchester branches travelled to Romania last month (August) to help build low cost affordable housing for low-income families in north-western Transylvania.
First seat trainee Cane Pickersgill was among the volunteers, which included two partners and graduate recruitment manager Brett Galloway, to lay foundations, mix cement and build the wooden frames needed to build a house on the project.
He said: “”It was an opportunity for everybody to get down and dirty and really get their hands mucky. It’s something that you just don’t ordinarily get the opportunity to do in a corporate setting.”
The week-long project also attracted the attention of the media in the country and a few of the trainees were interviewed by a Romanian TV network about their work.
This is the third year the firm has teamed up with charity Habitat for Humanity and managed to raise a whopping £16,000 for the project.
