Addleshaw Goddard’s September 2007 trainee intake will be given the opportunity to spend one week in Romania as part of a pro bono trip.
Before starting their training contracts next August, trainees can choose to travel to Glug, Romania, and take part in a community housing programme, organised by charity Habitat for Humanity (HFH).
Trainees will work alongside locals to build houses, which will then be sold to families by HFH through affordable interest-free loans. Money generated from the monthly mortgage payments will be used to fund other house-building programmes.
Addleshaws graduate recruitment manager Brett Galloway said: “Graduates increasingly want to know how they can give something back to the community. If this scheme is successful then we would want to do it each year, possibly travelling further afield.”
Addleshaws will pay for flights, accommodation, food and insurance costs, but HFH will ask trainees to make a donation to help fund future projects.
