Addleshaw Goddard has acted for Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and Derbyshire Mental Health Trust on a trio of hospital and ancillary services deals worth a total £76.5m.
Dubbed the Three Shires Batched PFI Scheme, the project has so far been given the go-ahead for the development of the Lincolnshire Community Hospital Project and the Leicester Learning Disabilities Unit with a number of services, including an adult high-dependency unit, now ready to begin development in Derby.
Addleshaws projects partner Jacqui Langley-White said: "They were put together by the NHS private finance unit as a way of seeing if smaller schemes could benefit from the PFI."
She added that the process ran smoothly because, at the outset, rules were set out for calculating design, pricing and provision of services, with penalties for either party if they walked away.
The construction work is being carried out by the Arden Partnership, a joint venture between Costain and Alfred McAlpine, which was advised by DLA Piper partner Liam Cowell.
