Addleshaw Goddard and Hammonds have advised on the £23m sale of Premiership football club Blackburn Rovers to Indian poultry and pharmaceuticals company Venky’s.
Blackburn owners the Jack Walker Trust, which had a 99.9 per cent shareholding in the club, was advised by an Addleshaw Goddard team led by Manchester corporate associate Dan Hart, working alongside partner Jim Tully, associates Tina Yu and George Danczak, and trainee Daniel Bailey.
Hammonds advised Venky’s, owned by the Rao family, alongside several business interests including Venkateshwara Hatcheries. Corporate partner David Hull led the Hammonds team and was assisted by associates Jonathan Prosser and Rob Shakespeare. The deal also involved banking partner Samrad Nazer and lawyer Chris Godwin.
In August Hull advised Leicester City FC and owner Milan Mandaric on its sale to the Asia Football Investments consortium (13 August 2010). In the same week he also advised on a £4m investment into West Ham United, when he represented investors John Harris CBE and Daniel Harris (20 August 2010). Hull was involved in the sale of Manchester City, Birmingham City and Aston Villa.
