Tweedie joins Eversheds after spending seven years at Addleshaws. He will take charge of Eversheds' employment team in Nottingham.
Tweedie told The Lawyer he was looking for a new challenge at this stage in his career after helping establish Addle-shaws' Leeds team following the 1998 merger with Booth & Co. He will lead an Eversheds team that comprises two other partners and 10 fee-earners.
One of his most high-profile cases was advising HSBC Bank on the Madden case, which re-established the principle of unfair dismissal law that employers should be allowed to act within a "band of reasonable responses".
A spokesperson for Addleshaws said: "The firm wishes Colin well in his new role." He added that the employment team was doing very well, with the group's turnover up 30 per cent on last year's figure.
