Addleshaws boosts NQ pay to match peers in London

Addleshaw Goddard has raised its newly qualified (NQ) salaries to match its national peers but still leaving it behind top City rates.

The move brings Addleshaws in line with Eversheds, DLA Piper and Lovells, which all pay £53,000 for London NQ salaries.

The magic circle firms of Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Linklaters, along with Herbert Smith, Simmons & Simmons and Slaughter and May all pay £55,000 for NQs.

The firm has a separate rate of pay between London and its Northern offices in Leeds and Manchester.

Salaries for London NQs were raised £3,000, or six per cent, on 1 September to £53,000. Newly qualified solicitors in the Northern offices have seen their salary rise £1,000 to £35,000.
