Addleshaw Goddard and Scottish firm Biggart Baillie have joined forces to crack a Chinese generic agrochemical manufacturing ring, slapping 19 injunctions on companies in one fell swoop at an industry event.
The BCPC Crop Science and Technology Conference in Glasgow is the world's largest agrochemical conference, attracting millions of pounds of sales. The injunctions covered more than 20 per cent of stallholders at this year's event.
Addleshaws and Biggarts acted on behalf of agrochemical giants BASF, Bayer CropScience and Syngenta.
The firms undertook a similar action last year, securing seven injunctions.
Biggarts litigation head Brent Haywood, who led the enforcement, said he believed 19 simultaneous injunctions was a record for Scotland.
Two of the infringing companies refused to comply with the injunction and were ejected from the conference. The remainder removed products from sale and destroyed advertising and brochures.
Addleshaws head of IP Richard Kempner said: "Our clients have been concerned for some years by the activities of various Chinese manufacturers. I hope the companies involved will think twice about infringing again."
