Addleshaw Goddard continued its external hiring spree in 2006 with 11 lateral hires. In the past three years the firm has taken on 29 laterals and made 18 internal promotions. In particular the firm had a boost to its partnership in 2005-06 when it hired a dozen laterals and promoted 10 to the partnership. While recruitment has continued, just five were promoted for the 2006-07 fiscal year. Three of those were in Leeds, the other two in London, leaving Manchester-based associates with little comfort. The bulk of the lateral hiring for 2006 took place in London (eight laterals), including the firm’s first private equity hire, indicating a focus on the sector.
