ABN AMRO has boosted its in-house derivatives capacity in Asia with the hire of Tony Corcoran as regional counsel with responsibility for lending operations and derivatives throughout North East and South East Asia.
Corcoran will steer ABN Amro's choice of external adviser on certain deals. Allen & Overy (A&O), Linklaters & Alliance and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer are all on the bank's global panel. Corcoran comes from Sydney-based real estate and financial services company Lend Lease. Prior to joining Lend Lease, he worked at Australian firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques and at A&O. He has indicated that firms he has worked with which are not on the existing panel may be in the running for future instructions. His new role sees him move to Hong Kong, where he will bolster the in-house legal department of Asia head of legal Chris Leberne. His arrival increases the Hong Kong legal team to five lawyers.
