Derivatives partner Edward Murray to bolster City team; Paris to focus on French law capability
Allen & Overy (A&O) derivatives partner Edward Murray has returned to the London office after nearly four years with the firm's Paris operation. The scaling back of English law capability in France is a response to current market conditions. Murrays responsibilities in Paris will be absorbed by Pierre Gissinger, who leads A&Os Paris derivatives practice, and international capital markets partner Dan Lauder. Gissinger will also take over Murrays management duties. Murray was relocated to London following A&Os decision to concentrate on growing its French law capability in Paris. Murray said that this was partly due to the poor state of the world economy. "Strategically, there was no need to have a second English qualified derivatives partner in Paris," he said. Murray rejoined the firm in London last month following a four month sabbatical.
