Allen & Overy (A&O) is taking on local New York firms at their own game by muscling in on the litigation arena
The firm has hired a partner and senior counsel as the first step in building a litigation practice in the city.
With the exception of Clifford Chance, litigation has so far been a blind spot for UK firms targeting the US.
A&O has hired Michael Feldberg from New York firm Schulte Roth & Zabel, where he was a partner for 11 years and chaired the litigation department. Ex-Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft partner Pamela Rogers Chepiga joins as senior counsel.
New York senior partner Dan Cunningham said: "We now cover all the major areas that one would want in a full-service New York practice."
