Denton Wilde Sapte and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal merged today, creating SNR Denton, the latest in a string of transatlantic firms to emerge since the recession.

Howard Morris
The Lawyer revealed earlier this year that management of the respective firms planned to merge in a bid to create a £500m turnover firm with 1,400 lawyers (26 May 2010), which was subsequently approved by partners (9 June 2010).
The firm will operate as a Swiss Verein with separate member firms in the UK and US. Sonnenschein chairman Elliott Portnoy and Dentons CEO Howard Morris will serve as co-CEOs of SNR Denton, while Joseph Andrew of Sonnenschein and Martin Kitchen of Dentons will become co-chairmen. It is anticipated that after a transition period of three years it is anticipated that the firm will move to a single CEO (2 June 2010).
SNR Denton, which has coverage in 32 countries, marked the day by having all staff dial into an audiocast chaired by the new co-CEOs and co-chairs and by giving staff “goody bags”.

Their website designers should have a look at the new home page, which proudly displays:
"Page Title
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consetetur sadipscing elitr, sed diam nonumy eirmod tempor invidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliquyam erat, sed diam voluptua."

Perhaps in three years time they'll have their website sorted out - all the links to lawyers biographies (including those of the senior management) go to an error message. Makes them look like they don't really care about their marketing.
