Welcome to The Lawyer's brand new student and trainee website Lawyer2B.com. A legal career can be highly rewarding, but the route to qualifying as a lawyer is a minefield, with competition for places on training contracts and pupillages as fierce as ever. Thankfully, Lawyer2B.com will help you navigate your way through university and life as a trainee solicitor or pupil (trainee barrister). The best thing is that all the information you need is now just one click away.
The launch of Lawyer2B.com couldn't have come at a more important time of the year. Once exams are out of the way, most of your peers can start to relax as they look forward to a long hot summer. But if you want to break into the legal profession, the summer holiday between your second and third years at university is crucial as the vacation scheme season gets into full swing. Summer vacation schemes are two to three-week placements with law firms and are designed to help wannabe lawyers to get a taste of what life is like in practice. They will also give you the opportunity to sell yourself to a potential future employer and vice versa. If you want to find out more about how to survive a vacation scheme, then watch this space. Next month (May 2007) we will be posting a feature on tips that will help you stand out from the crowd.
And if you get through the vacation scheme then you have the all-important interview and assessment day to look forward to. Click here for tips on how to survive the dreaded assessment day.
