I have just opened my A-level results and they are not what I hoped, will this affect my applications for work experience at law firms?
About an hour a go I recieved my A-level results. Although they’re not terrible, and I have managed to scrape into my first-choice university, they are not as good as I hoped. I have heard that law firms look at these resutls when you apply for open days, insight days and work experience in your first year of univeristy - have I completely ruined my chances of gaining this important experience?

If you have got into your first-choice of university I really wouldn't worry about it. Sure they will look at your A-level grades but also your performance at university and the extra curricular experience you take part in. My advice would be to get some informal work experience now at a local firm before your uni start date and put that on your CV.

It depends how bad your grades are and what uni you have got into. If you have got 3 B's, and got into an average red brick uni then that doesn't look great. But if you got ABB and wanted AAB or AAA and got into a russell group uni then you'll be fine.

Ruined no (unless you are one of those Magic Circle or bust types but even then not all hope is gone) but you have got more pressure to get extra-curricular activities and solid degree results. But you are aware of this which may of your peers may well not be - so you can start now and get ahead.
But by no means have you ruined anything - so don't panic!
