  • Overview

Comprised of 18 QCs and 69 juniors, 7 Bedford Row is a noted criminal and civil law set with dedicated clerk team for each division. With noted civil law silk Simeon Maskrey QC as head of chambers and Fay Gillott as chief executive, 7 Bedford Row is particularly prominent in crime, personal injury law and clinical negligence.

Simeon Maskrey leads the personal injury and clinical negligence practice, and specialises in severe clinical negligence and personal injury cases. The practice also boasts two of the UK's leading juniors in Julian Matthews, who specialises in complex quantum issues, and Jeremy Pendlebury, who has developed a niche interest in sporting injuries and work-related upper-limb disorders.

The chambers' criminal practice has three silks of note. David Farrer QC is a leading barrister with a strong practice in money laundering and fraud cases. Tim Barnes QC is regarded as a leading expert in criminal fraud. Richard Latham QC is also a high- profile barrister with a focus on homicide cases. He has appeared in cases such as the Soham Murders (R v Huntley & Carr) and the manslaughter trials of Michael and Mairead Philpott and Paul Mosley in relation to the death of six children. He was also involved in the Office of Fair Trading's price fixing prosecution involving British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.

For the last decade, 7 Bedford Row has had a professional alliance with Jersey-based law firm Baker & Partners, providing advice and advocacy in cases involving financial regulation and compliance in low-tax jurisdictions.
