3VB expands with judicial additions

Gray’s Inn set 3 Verulam Buildings (3VB) has added two former High Court judges to its membership roster as associate members.

Former Queen’s Bench Division judges Sir Robert Nelson and Sir Charles Gray, who are both arbitrators and mediators, will join the set.
Head of chambers Ali Malek QC said: “We are extremely pleased and honoured to have Sir Robert Nelson and Sir Charles Gray joining us. Their respective expertise will be a great compliment to the arbitrator, mediator and dispute resolution services offered out of 3 Verulam Buildings.”
Gray, who was previously an associate member with media set 5RB, was appointed by News Group Newspapers last year (17 June 2011) to oversee cases launched against the News of the World owner over phone hacking allegations.
Nelson sat as a judge for more than a decade until 2008 rejoining Crown Office Chambers when he stood down. He focuses on a number of practice areas including professional negligence, commercial and pharmaceutical product liability, industrial disease and insurance/re-insurance coverage disputes.
It is the first major additions for 3VB since it installed Paul Cooklin as chambers director in February to succeed Nick Hill, who left in March for IP set Three New Square (7 February 2012).
