Gray’s Inn set Tanfield Chambers has added a four-member team to its ranks after a raid on 33 Bedford Row.
The property litigation barristers are Daniel Dovar, Piers Harrison, Jonathan Upton and Michael Walsh. Dovar said the group wanted to pick up larger instructions and so needed to be involved with a larger set.
“They get more work because of their reputation,” he added. “Any move you make adds impetus to what you’re doing and this has given everyone a boost.”
Tanfield property group head Philip Rainey QC said the set had ambitious growth plans, albeit at the junior barrister level.
“It’s the first time we’ve recruited a team of this size all at once,” he said, “and if the right people came along we’d do it again.”
This is the fifth addition for Tanfield this year. In January it added housing specialist Rebecca Catermole from Arden Chambers.
