Bird & Bird has made a rare move for an international firm and signed an association with a law firm in Tunisia.
Former Gide Loyrette Nouel lawyer Salah Dakhlaoui
The firm has agreed a non-exclusive association with Tunisian law firm Dakhlaoui Avocats, which was founded in 2007 by former Gide Loyrette Nouel lawyer Salah Dakhlaoui.
Gide remains the only international law firm to have its own office in Tunisia, having opened there in 2001 (25 June 2001).
Bird & Bird said the country’s developing infrastructure presented opportunities in sectors such as energy, financial services, healthcare, IT and aviation.
French office head Frédérique Dupuis-Toubol said the agreement built on the association forged in Morocco last year (7 October 2011) and the opening of its office in Abu Dhabi (27 May 2010).
Bird & Bird has other non-exclusive cooperation agreements with firms in Denmark, Portugal, Malaysia and China.
