2Birds doubles vac scheme following jump in demand

The vacation schemes, which are split over two dates in June and July, will now host 25 aspiring lawyers compared to 16 last year.

Head of graduate and trainee management Lynne Walters said: “This is a way of giving more people an opportunity and for us to see more people. We did consider increasing even more but I didn’t want to dilute the success of the scheme.”

“The scheme is very important because we aim to recruit from the summer placement programme for training contracts.  The candidates have already been selected through our assessment day so we know they all have good academics and interview very well,” she added.

Despite this, the top 20 law firm does not intend on boosting its trainee numbers from 17, because it wants to ensure its retention rate remains reasonably high.

The vacation scheme has been re-designed this year, by rolling out a 45-minute interview that will take place at the end of the placement.
