Common law set 2 Pump Court ;has ;appointed Richard Christie QC as head of chambers after Philip Singer QC stood down.
Singer, who had been in the post since 1995, will remain in full-time practice as a serious crime specialist.
Christie's elevation came as the set promoted first junior clerk Andrew Newey to senior clerk, succeeding John Arter, who took early retirement. Family clerk David McDonald has also been recruited from QEB.
Under Singer the set's numbers grew exponentially, with crime and family the core practice areas.
Newey said: "We wish to continue the excellent work of Philip Singer QC and continue to expand and develop chambers."
