Bird & Bird has boosted its corporate and litigation practices, sealing a merger with 30-lawyer London firm Lane & Partners.
The merger will boost Bird & Bird’s London dispute resolution practice to more than 100 lawyers, and will add at least £8m to the firm’s bottom line.
Lane & Partners had more than 30 lawyers working on matters for clients in the aviation, construction and utility sectors. The merger will see Lane & Partners take on Bird & Bird’s brand, taking effect from 1st October.
Bird & Bird managing partner David Kerr (pictured) said: “Lane & Partners has real strength in a number of our core sectors and practice areas and also has many complementary areas of excellence. We therefore see this merger as a great opportunity and an important expansion step for us in the UK.”
The move comes just two weeks after the firm launched four offices in Central & Eastern Europe, opening in Bratislava, Budapest, Prague and Warsaw.
