  • Do the figures for A&O represent only their UK footprint (ie Belfast and London) or across the entire global network?
Given the firm's occupancy of a c. 1m sq/ft office in Bishops Square, I find it rather unlikely that across some 40 offices the firm has only a 70% increase - in Washington alone, The American Lawyer reported A&O has some 75,000 sq/ft of space.

  • This is great data but has there been analysis of what the floor space per lawyer is used for?
Is it desk space, client meeting space, internal meeting space, filing space, circulation space?
Only when you have done this analysis will this allow Law Firms to compare what the extra floor space per person is being used for.

  • What a disappointingly poorly researched article. Are you seriously telling us that the top 10 sq footage firms #1 is A&O @ 1.7m ft and then Pinsent Masons at 371k? Baloney. What about CC, Freshies, Links etc? Idea was good but check your facts more carefully before putting out "research". CBRE have done a detailed report on this.

  • Statistics, research and detailed research from property specialists do not make an office comfortable and a pleasant experience.
Anonymous mentioned Magic Circle firms in their comments, I take my Jack Russell Terrier and my lovely children into the office and no one bat's an eyelid, now that's what I call an office. Lawyers are too obsessed with profits per partner and square footage. Anonymous you have missed the point entirely.
