Turnover fell by 13 per cent at East Midlands firm Flint Bishop, with the revenue stream from run-off insurance work dating back to 2007-08 finally coming to an end.

The firm has moved to reposition itself in the past couple of years, with its high exposure to the property market proving problematic ­during the recession. As a result it has built a strong licensing practice that now accounts for 10 per cent of total turnover. Personal injury is also a major focus.

Flint Bishop has just six equity partners, so it can manage by consensus, although it does have a managing partner in Ken Dixon and a senior partner in Ian Beardmore.

All six equity partners receive an equal share of profit, although their 2010-11 shares of £205,000 were retained by the business, with only monthly drawings being paid out.
