Newcastle firm Sintons saw a 15 per cent increase in turnover during a financial year in which staff numbers also rose, thanks to an investment in 25 new fee-earners and five support staff. The firm now has 175 staff, up on last year’s 150, and 63 lawyers, compared with 53 in 2009-10.
The partnership was pretty stable, increasing from 21 to 22. The equity partner count was flat at 15 and net profit stood at £3.2m in 2010-11, working out at roughly £210,000 per equity partner.
Litigation is by far Sintons’ biggest revenue generator, providing 54 per cent of overall turnover, thanks to the firm’s personal injury focus. Corporate, finance and property contribute roughly 35 per cent of income between them.
