Allen & Overy senior partner David Morley and Eversheds managing partner Lee Ranson have joined Prime Minister David Cameron on his visit to Russia.
Morley and Ranson were invited by UK Trade & Investment to be part of a group of 24 industry leaders, led by trade minister Lord Green, on a two day visit to promote business relations between the two countries.
In a statement, Morley said: “We welcome the opportunity to join the Prime Minister’s delegation in visiting Russia to meet with business and political leaders to discuss the issues surrounding trade and business opportunities between our two countries.”
Speaking at Moscow State University today, Cameron reportedly stressed that the UK would not cease its demands to extradite the man suspected of killing Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko in 2006, but insisted that Russia and the UK could still improve business and political relations.
Allen & Overy has had an office in Moscow since 1993, while Eversheds’ Ranson has confirmed his firm’s interest in the region.
In July 2010, Clifford Chance’s then senior partner Stuart Popham joined Cameron on a delegation to India, to promote the UK’s legal and financial professional services community as head of the trade body, TheCityUK (27 July 2010).
