Akin Gump raids Hogan Lovells for Moscow partner

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has hired a corporate partner from Hogan Lovells in Moscow.

Suren Gortsunyan will join Akin Gump as a partner in the international corporate transactions practice.

Gortsunyan advises on M&A and capital markets transaction, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. He joined legacy firm Lovells from White & Case, where he was a senior associate, in 2005.

In 2009, Gortsunyan advised Russian consortium AAR on the corporate restructuring of the TNK-BP joint venture, which at the time was plagued by infighting.

Gortsunyan said: “I’m very pleased to join Akin Gump, a firm with a depth and breadth of corporate transactional experience that clients – in Moscow and beyond – require.

“It’s always been professionally exciting to work with many Akin Gump partners on the other side of the table, and I’m looking forward to now working side by side with them.”

In April 2010 legacy firm Hogan & Hartson’s entire Geneva office defected to Akin Gump (7 April 2010).
