  • You missed out the whereabouts of the people shafted by the various firms, who now have the dole to look forward to.

  • Where the people whose next destination is Jobcentre Plus?

  • It is interesting that the vast majority of the 15 still there at the end were also there prior to the rapid expansion. This means that almost all of the new blood left the ship before it sank.

  • Regarding the people whose next destination is Jobcentre Plus, over 30 were let go last week, and the 78 people who are in the 'Transistional Services Agreement staff' are due to be made redundant on 28 September. The glimmer of hope is that both main purchasing firms - BLG and Gateleys - are setting up new Manchester offices, so may have a set of jobs to offer (albeit on new employment contracts). Tough times for those let down by the list of people above.

  • Arthur Mckenna and Fred Royle , who basically ran James Chapman in the 50s 60s and 70s , would turn in their grave if they could see the shambles this ill timed ill fated merger has turned out to be

  • Lets not forget that a lot of that new blood also happily pocketed their share of the premium, thereby enjoying the fruits of such rapid expanison, and only then left the ship before it sank. They were just as greedy as those who stayed!

  • "Halliwells' end goal was to float"
LMAOROFL (feel free to google that if you haven't seen it before)
Oh, that's cheered up my morning. Hilarious!
Hard to believe the architects of this catastrophe have gone on to profitable jobs elsewhere.
Meanwhile, nobody has talked about the recruiters, who were still recommending Halliwells to people right up to the collapse in full knowledge that the ship was about to capsize...
Ethics, anyone? Or is that just a county east of London?

  • It is good to read teh popular support for those who did not make it to a lifeboat BUT where is the commentary on the skill(?) of the management that caused the disaster in the first place. Taking a multi million Pound T/O business with profit margins of 30%+ and running it aground in less than 2 years is pretty spectacular and worthy of some further investigation. Just who were the clowns who achieved this mess?
