Norton Rose raids DLA Piper HK for IP duo

Norton Rose has continued to grow its Asian footprint with the hire of two IP partners from DLA Piper’s Hong Kong office.
Non contentious IP and technology specialist Gigi Cheah and contentious and non contentious IP lawyer Justin Davidson will join the City firm’s Hong Kong practice taking its partner headcount in the office to 18. The firm now has more than 200 partners across the Asia Pacific region.
Asia head David Stannard said: “They [Cheah and Davidson] are exactly the kind of dynamic, highly skilled and experienced lawyers in this important specialist area we’re looking for to build and take forward our Hong Kong and Asia region technology practice.”
The move follows the relocation of two corporate partners - Shaun McRobert and Andrew Abernathy from Australia and Dubai respectively - earlier this year (15 February 2010) as the firm increasingly places Asia at the centre of its global strategy.
