Norton Rose continues Asian drive with China hire

Norton Rose has boosted its Beijing practice with the hire of corporate partner Michael Yu from Global Law Office, highlighting the firm’s increasing push into the Asian market.

Yu, whose corporate expertise includes M&A work, IPOs and private placements, will take the partner headcount at the top 10 firm’s Beijing office to six, with three now in the corporate team.

Global head of corporate Tim Marsden said: “We’re concentrating on growing our China offices to reflect the demands of our clients. This is our second corporate partner in China in as many months.”

The appointment comes after Norton Rose recruited Allen & Overy of counsel to its Shanghai corporate team as partner last month

Yu added: “Norton Rose’s reputation in the region is growing fast, and so it’s an ideal time for me to join them. I’m looking forward to playing a part in the continued success of the practice in the coming years.”

The firm now has 45 partners in a total of more than 700 lawyers across its 13 Asian offices.
