CC's London chief wins global litigation crown

Clifford Chance has elected London managing partner Jeremy Sandelson as its new global head of litigation.

As revealed by The Lawyer last month, Sandelson (pictured) went head to head with former Asia litigation head Denis Brock for the post (20 September 2009).

Sandelson has spent the last four years as managing partner of the firm’s London office. Prior to that he led the London litigation group.

The firm has been without a global litigation head since June, when former New York-based chief Mark Kirsch defected to Gibson Dunn & Crutcher with partners Joel Cohen and Christopher Joralemon (10 June 2009).

Clifford Chance delayed naming a new litigation head while it assessed exactly what the position would entail.

London litigation head Nick Munday told The Lawyer in August: “Litigation’s far more jurisdictional than other practice groups, so a global leadership position could be very different.

“We need to decide exactly what that role will involve before we make any decisions.” (31 August 2009).

Clifford Chance will now start the process of electing a new London managing partner.
