1 Hare Court family silk adds momentum to Farrers’ growth

Farrer & Co has continued its recent recruitment drive, snaring the services of highly rated family barrister Jeremy Posnansky QC from 1 Hare Court.

Posnansky, who took silk in 1994, represented Kenneth McFarlane in the landmark May 2006 House of Lords divorce ruling, which saw his ex-wife Julia awarded £250,000 a year for life.

In the past month the firm has hired competition barrister Christopher Brown from the Competition Appeal Tribunal, finance partner Simon Graham from O’Melveny & Myers, head of contentious trusts and estates Toby Graham from Taylor Wessing and tax partner Russell Cohen from Lawrence Graham.

Posnansky, who also acted for Kimberley Quinn in the proceedings with David Blunkett, has a practice that is devoted exclusively to family law, principally in high-value international ancillary relief cases. He will join Farrers’ family team from 1 May.

Farrers head of family Richard Parry said: “[This hire] marks our determination to reaffirm our position as one of the leading matrimonial practices in the country.”

Posnansky said: “One area I’m keen to develop is mediation. Farrers already offers specialist mediation, and I hope to develop it further in the years to come.”
